Apparently the sexual orientation of a gamer matters when playing Xbox Live. Microsoft recently suspended a player for identifying herself as a lesbian in her profile.
Teresa, the banned lesbian said:
“I was harassed by several players, ‘chased’ to different maps/games to get away from their harassment. They followed me into the games and told all the other players to turn me in because they didn’t want to see that crap or their kids to see that crap.”
Teresa attempted to contact Microsoft about her harassment and that’s when she got suspended. Their reasoning was that other players found her sexual orientation “offensive.” It’s also Microsoft’s policy to not allow players to make references to their orientation.
😯 The kids! Right… because the kids on Xbox Live are innocent and cannot comprehend sexual orientation. Well if that isn’t bullshit then I am a fundamentalist Muslim. I cannot count the number of inappropriate things that have been said to me by middle school boys while playing online games. I don’t even play on Xbox Live. My solution is to simply kill them many times in the game and do other annoying things to make them leave, or if you can, kick them out of the game. If these kids are not old enough to understand sexual orientation then they should not be gaming online with adults.
Teresa was not the only one who has been suspended for sexual orientation reasons. You can also be suspended if your actual name is “sexually offensive.”
